This painting owes more to the composition of a small portion of Bruegel’s painting of the same name, but manages to retain some of the opacity of his subject matter as well. Lifting the horizon line and perching the viewer high amongst the pigeons intensifies the sense of witnessing an event. However, the action is in stasis — what the purpose or intention of the woman in the parking lot may be we cannot know.
